Charity Miles Williams is Assistant Legal Counsel at the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) where she specializes in administrative law and serves as a regulatory compliance attorney.  Her primary role is representing the Agency in internal and administrative hearings before an Administrative Law Judge.  She also serves as the Reasonable Accommodation and Public Record Request Coordinator.  Prior to joining THDA, she served as Interim Executive Director and staff attorney at the Tennessee Fair Housing Council (TFHC). She began her legal career in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she specialized in housing law, specifically landlord-tenant disputes, and assisted in domestic violence representation on the Order of Protection docket in Knox County for Legal Aid of East Tennessee.  

 

Charity is the 2013 recipient of the TALS New Advocate of the Year Award and previously served as Co-Chair of the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services Housing and Consumer Task Force. She is an active member in the local and State Bar Associations and a graduate of Leadership Knoxville and the 2015 Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law class. 

 

She earned her J.D. and M.P.A. in 2009 from the University of Tennessee and her B.A. in 2005 from Tennessee State University. She is the proud wife of Alonzo D. Williams and mother of Miles and Olivia Williams.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cycling, running, and shopping.
